Thousands of people gathered on Saturday for the 109th Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place. The trade show is a 10 day event and guests are able to see close to one thousand vehicles on display the collection ranges from sports cars to concept cars.

The energy and excitement could be felt in the air. There were a variety of vendors and interactive exhibits that will keep both your family and friends busy. Whether you’re a car enthusiast or just a curious consumer looking to learn more about their favorite brand there is something here for everyone to see.

Looking around the show floor you quickly get a sense of how much work went into setting up each exhibit. Companies like Jeep and Ford went all out when it came to providing guests and potential customers with a fully engaging experience. The lines stretch far as guests waited for a chance to test drive a Jeep.


The test tracks allowed audiences a chance to see how the various vehicles handled in different conditions. When riders finished their Jeep test drive nearby employees directed them to complete a survey which asked about their riding experience during the drive and if their opinions have changed. Once they completed the survey riders would receive a free photo and a Jeep bag.

Some companies tried to cajole an audience attention with interactive exhibits that use virtual and augmented reality.





One exhibit that stood out the most was Nissan’s. Eventually a line began to form as parents and adults of all ages waited to get their photos taken with the Stormtroopers from Star Wars. While parents were getting their photos taken with Stormtroopers kids were dancing with Nissan employees nearby the 2017 Nissan Rogue One: Star Wars car.


Nearby the test track area is the Mopar Garage. The 2017 Mopar Dodge Challenger made it’s debut at this year’s Chicago Auto Show.

“I [liked] going to see [the] Dodge Challenger and all the Concept cars, said Miranda Santiago. “And then I like doing the road test those are my favorite,” This was her third year coming to the auto show.

According to the Chicago Auto Show 70 percent of attendees come to shop and 65 percent of attendees plan to buy a vehicle within the next year.

Since there are so many cars available to the public some guests use this time to do a little research about their dream car especially if they’re in the market for one. ”We’re in the market for a car anyway,” said Greg Gwatlney. “We’ve gone to dealership to dealership but you get everything in one shot here.”

One car that caught Gwatlney attention was the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica “It seems to be pretty decked out in features with the screens you know with the stowaway back seats.” he said.”It seems to be a pretty feature rich vehicle with what it offers.”

This year the Chicago Auto Show is hosting three special event days on Feb 15th Women’s Day, Feb 17th Hispanic Heritage Day, and on February 20th Family Day. While guest attend the auto show they are encouraged to share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #CAS17.

The Chicago Auto show kicked off on February 11th and ends on February 20th. Tickets for adults are $13, tickets for seniors (those over 62) are $7, tickets for children (ages 7-12) are $7, and tickets for children (0-6) are free.
