Emmanuel Baptist Church created a Black History Museum Room for Black History Month. Emmanuel is located on 83rd and Damen Avenue. Under the guidance of Dr. Vera Curry-James, the South Side church has managed to acquire an impressive collection of artifacts for Black History Month.
Some of the objects that were on display ranged from African artwork to images of historical figures. Originally this exhibit would be displayed just for the month of February, but has been extended until the end of March. Previously, I had the opportunity to view the church’s exhibit and I was surprised by how many artifacts were on display.
Each piece told a story, and here are some images from the exhibit:
If you can check out Emmanuel’s Black History Museum. It’s definitely one of a kind.
